"We can’t wait, keep big companies out of politics" Jul 11, 2024

The West Virginia Can’t Wait movement is an organization that wants a government where people who work the hardest and bear the brunt of work get to make laws. The idea is based on #grassroots efforts, arguing that lawmakers don’t know the reality citizens face.

The goal of the Can’t Wait movement is to give voice to the millions of people who are at the bottom of the corporate ladder, those people who have worked the hardest, but have no power in matters of government. It is the movement’s desire to create a government where these people have the power over their own fate and do not have to relegate their liberties to the whims of a “few old rich men.”

Political candidates are often influenced by their biggest donors. After all, it takes a lot of money to run a political campaign with election staff, marketing, signs, ads, and all the costs that go into a run for office. Corporations that seek to gain political influence make heavy donations to candidates they prefer hoping to elect a candidate that will make laws that will benefit them rather than the average American. That kind of corruption is what the #CantWait movement is fighting, so that elected officials and #lawmakers make decisions in the best interest of everyone, not those who have the deepest pockets.

The #workingclass is the backbone of the economy. Despite the toughness and vigor in their day-to-day jobs, they benefit little from the massive work they do. The movement aims to change this injustice and give hardworking people what they deserve.

If this movement comes into power, there is a high probability that they will do more than the actual government. History shows that those who are vigorous in enacting change do more good than an unresponsive government. #Revolutionary ideas are often the novel things that change the world. If we look at what the organization has done, it has slowly united the entire working class of West Virginia, a feat not effectively done by the current state government or any privately run political organization.
