Issue management

  • After logging in, go to www.viewexchange.com/issues/new
  • Enter info for the proposed issue topic, using the following criteria:
    • It should be at least a little different than existing issue topics on ViewExchange for the suggested geographic area
    • When writing the issue title and description, in order to maximize user engagement try not to be biased towards your side of the opinion (you can be plenty biased when writing your opinion)
    • Add 1 or 2 different geographies
  • After submitting issue info, it will be reviewed within a couple hours (most of the time much sooner), and you will be notified if it was approved
  • After approval, just add your opinion on the issue and it will then go live on ViewExchange

  • Proposed issues that are submitted are reviewed by ViewExchange staff. Primary criteria for approval are:
    • The issue description provides enough context for other users to understand what the issue is about
    • At least a little different from existing issue topics on ViewExchange for the suggested geographic area
    • Unbiased towards an opinion side (users can be biased when writing their opinion for the issue)
  • After review, users will receive notification that issue was approved and they can add an opinion. If issue was not approved, the user will be notified that the issue needs edits or was rejected.

  • When adding an issue, you can add 1-2 geographies for the issue. Following are examples if you decide 2 different geographies are relevant:
    • National (U.S.) and Indiana
    • Indiana and Illinois
    • Indiana and Indianapolis
    • Indianapolis and Louisville

  • ViewExchange is primarily focused on the US market at this time. Timing for expansion to other countries is TBD.

When adding an issue, it can cover 1 to 3 issue topic categories if it is relevant for those categories (ex: Housing, Education, Transportation, etc)

To help keep scoring credible, opinion sides for issues are pre-filtered so users only score sides they agree with. Well written opinions that best represent a side of an issue are scored the highest, and given the top spot for visibility.

Scoring

Opinions receive a ViewExchange score (after enough users rate the opinion), which is a composite score as rated by other users who agree with the opinion side of the issue.
