Should Alaska be selling off land for #pipeline use or should Alaska preserve the Alaskan wilderness?

"Why selling land for #pipeline use is a good idea" Aug 09, 2024

Selling off the land for pipeline use in Alaska is great for the state. Although said land is state-owned, the sale will reach up to 5.6 billion dollars! This can be a great way to fund future generations of Alaskans.

It can be beneficial for other development projects that can make the state better, and said funds could be stored in the Alaska Permanent Fund. The Trans Alaskan Pipeline is already profiting from bonds, market accounts, and stocks, so why not add real estate to the list?

Although it is a huge risk for the state to sell the lands, it’s always good to put the land to use. The pipeline will be able to provide a sufficient oil supply to the US.

In 1980, the Alaska Permanent Dividend was proposed for Alaska residents to receive $50 for each year they stay in Alaska. In 1982, the first pay-out was paid. Since then, the project has paid 14 billion USD to Alaskan residents. By selling the land for pipeline use, the funds can be used for different projects that can lead to a better community and way of life in Alaska. Imagine that the fund can be used to develop various sectors such as education, food, infrastructure, etc.

The Trans-Alaska Pipeline is the only reasonable way to get crude oil from the North slope of Alaska. It will help keep oil prices down in America even if they rise worldwide.

It has a domino effect! Selling off the land for pipeline use will build more infrastructures, create more jobs, boost the economy, and open up more business opportunities to people, resulting in a better economy. Selling the lands off for pipeline use will certainly give long-term benefits to the state of Alaska.
