Amazon is a massive online retailer that has a market capitalization of over $1 trillion. Founded in 1994 in Seattle, Washington by Jeff Bezos, it was initially little more than an online bookstore. From those humble beginnings, Amazon has become the largest online #ecommerce market, and one of the most powerful brands in the world. Since 2010, Amazon has invested more than $3.6 billion in Georgia, and now has more than 3,500 full-time workers in the state and up to 5,000 indirect jobs. However, Amazon also has a track record of poor working conditions for its warehouse employees. Amazon pushes its workers meet certain benchmarks which can cause the workers to end up in unsafe situations where they can be injured. They also have a history of low pay for the work provided. The question for debate is, should Amazon be building more fulfillment centers in Georgia?
