Nicotine addiction is one of the severe side effects of smoking. When smokers develop nicotine dependence, the smoking rate will exponentially increase, resulting in health problems later in life. Many rehabilitation programs have been created to stop nicotine addiction, but most result in a relapse.
Vaping is an alternative to smoking that eliminates the ingestion of tar, a residue inhaled when using cigarettes. Some use vape fluids with very little nicotine and none of the carcinogenic chemicals found in regular cigarettes. For some, this is a much better alternative to traditional smoking and may help a person quit smoking.
A gradual decrease in nicotine intake may enable a person to stop smoking altogether. Though many do not believe in the effectiveness of vapes, it is still far safer than regular cigarettes, from which deadly chemicals are inhaled due to the burning of ingredients inside a traditional cigarette. Therefore, it is much better to allow exemptions for people under the age of 21, to utilize vaping with a reduced amount of nicotine to refrain from inhaling poisonous gases when burning a cigarette.
Though studies are ongoing, vaping is a new path toward freedom from addiction, though many still disagree. Since the new smoking law was passed, people under 21 have been forced to quit smoking cold turkey. These individuals should be allowed to quit safely in a manner that does not affect their daily lives. This will lower their stress and prevent them from turning to illegal alternatives to get their nicotine fix.
The government should offer incentives for people under 21 to quit smoking altogether by gradually decreasing their nicotine intake. Among these incentives would be allowing youths under 21 to purchase vapes, especially if they want to quit smoking.
These youths are our future, and we need healthy people to lead our country for the better. If vaping is one of the methods that will reduce the number of smokers and potential lung cancer patients, we should promote it and advertise how it can help people better their lives.
