Medicaid is a great program to provide health insurance to low-income people. Expanding Medicaid allows non-disabled people who can afford it an opportunity to take advantage of this program as well.

With Medicaid expanded, resources and funding will inevitably run out, and this will further result in politicians hiking the taxes even higher. Not only that, it will destroy the current ongoing Medicaid plan. Providing Medicaid insurance to someone is not the same as ensuring they are provided with affordable and high-quality insurance.

Medicaid has terrible coverage. Sources mention, "it's one of the worst health insurance coverage in the country." The Medical Association of Texas released a survey that the willingness of doctors to take in Medicaid patients decreased by 11% within two years, the reason being the low pay for doctors. The permitted drugs are also very restricted for Medicaid patients and often insufficient for treatment. 

Medicaid currently shelters more than 70 million Americans. If expanded, it would result in an estimated additional 17 million almost immediately. Even without this, the population has already grown from 7.5 million to 8.8 million under the Obama administration. With so many people to cover, ObamaCare simply does not have enough funding.

Another important factor is the cost-to-state budget. It was observed that Medicaid has been growing by 8% each year. Compared to the economic growth of 1-2%, ObamaCare has put Medicaid on a growth spurt. 

The expanded Medicaid program will most certainly suffer from rampant fraud. It has been observed that states have been shifting their Medicaid population to the private sector to avoid this ongoing problem. However, the government needs to implement an effective means to end this. Until they do, Medicaid expansion does not seem like the brightest idea.

The fact is that Utah does not need Medicaid until it sees improvement and funding can facilitate all under its umbrella.
