"Wage Posters - A hidden profit for doing reminders" Jul 05, 2024

Wages are one of the significant issues in an industrialized society. Ensuring wages for labor are fair and just compensation ultimately lies with the government that is mandated to serve and protect the welfare of its citizens. It means that for a society to thrive, people should experience pride and happiness in their work. Their contribution to society should not be affected by injustices like wage theft.

Wage theft is when employees are not paid in full, even though they work full-time with a company. This kind of theft involves not paying the employee on time, not paying overtime, and other work-related compensations, churning up excuses not to pay their employees in full.

Because of this problem, the state and the federal government enacted labor laws to protect workers from abuse and place a check on employers and business owners from corrupting the system. One of the ways to combat this was to put wage posters in offices as a reminder for every one of the current arbitrations on the issue. Though this is a good reminder for a company, these posters may also become part of the problem.

It is sad to see that businesses that make these posters have the potential to take advantage of the requirement for companies to buy these posters for their companies. Some poster producers use marketing techniques to make businesses think their posters need updating. Other poster makers will release new posters with new designs that include laws and contact numbers, implying that the company must replace their signs. These businesses are easily coerced into buying these posters, especially with the fines and penalties for not doing so.

Though these posters are well-intentioned, without a centralized manufacturing source, companies are at the mercy of producers of these labor law visual reminders. Yes, we have ensured the employee's rights, but if there are no regulations on these posters, the employers will also face exploitation.
