"Patty Murray would best represent WA in the Senate" Oct 12, 2022

As voters in Washington warm up to choose their representative to the U.S. Senate on November 8, 2022, Senator Patty Murray stands out as a leader who would be the best choice in this contest.

There are various reasons why Senator Murray deserves a chance to become a representative from Washington to the U.S. Senate. Sen. Murray’s first involvement in politics was when she led the war against politicians who attempted to stop a preschool initiative in which her kids were part of the beneficiaries. She managed to ensure the program was restored – a great demonstration that people can unite and prevent out-of-touch politicians from harming those they lead. Washington deserves such leaders who can spot when things are taking the wrong direction and correct them early.

After realizing that there were very few people to speak on behalf of families and women when it comes to issues affecting them, Murray decided to vie for the United States Senate seat. She saw a need to take a further step, since shouting about the issues on TV alone was not enough and was not resulting in a substantive change. Upon her election as Senator, Murray has continued to take advantage of every resource at her disposal to fight for her people, create solutions, and provide a loud voice for progressive transformation. She has already had the opportunity to represent Washington in the U.S. Senate, and has indeed shown signs that if offered another chance, she can do even more.

Senator Murray is a great and caring leader because she seems to put the well-being of her people first. She demonstrated this after the detection of the first COVID-19 case in the United States when she urged the Trump Administration and Congress to treat the pandemic with the seriousness that it deserved. It became part of her responsibility to ensure there was relief to take care of the public health crisis and give first priority to workers, families, as well as local economies, including producing and distributing vaccines, aiding families with direct payments, child care, paid leave, supporting small businesses, and helping learning institutions respond to the crisis and re-open safely.

When it came to issues about moving back to normal after the pandemic, Murray has been clear, “we can’t just go back to normal." She believes that normal isn't a reality for the majority of families, which is why she is pushing for policies to uplift all workers and families, including a $15 minimum wage bill, bold efforts to cut the cost of higher education, expanded collective bargaining rights, making sure every citizen access quality health care as a right rather than a privilege, and paid leave and childcare for any person who needs it. With this kind of demonstration of care, Washington families and workers will be safe under Sen. Murray’s representation.

Senator Murray is a bold leader who is ready to stand up and point out when the government is wrong. She did this during the Trump Administration when she led the rejection of anti-democratic, anti-middle class, anti-women, and anti-worker administration. When Education Secretary Betsy DeVos was nominated, she did not only fight her nomination but also her education agenda which, according to Sen. Murray, was “anti-public.” Whenever the Republicans attempted to force through Trumpcare, she succeeded in leading a successful rejection.

When looking for a few leaders in Congress who can come up with solid cases for progressive policies, Sen. Murray is among them. She is a leader with the ability to move past partisanship to give the best to her people.  She has demonstrated that a leader can work with anyone ready for the sake of helping people and making progress for Washington state communities and families without giving up on core values and principles. Washington voters require a leader without boundaries – a leader who can break through partisanship to achieve results.
