"Morales will continue to deliver change for good" Aug 24, 2023

Seattle is at a turning point in its history, grappling with stark disparities. Tammy Morales, a current city councilmember, understands this crucial moment. She aims to lead District 2 towards healthier, more resilient neighborhoods and equitable growth.

Morales champions inclusivity and equity as core principles. She believes that everyone, regardless of income or race, deserves housing, jobs, and food security. Over the past four years, Morales has worked tirelessly to strengthen community bonds, protect renters' rights, and address historical injustices.

Morales secured $1 million for our Maritime Academy to connect young people to pre-apprenticeship opportunities, setting them on a path to rewarding careers. She secured $440,000 to implement a Neighborhood Safety Model, increasing street outreach and making communities safer.

Shootings in Seattle nearly doubled between 2019 and 2021, but Morales has been instrumental in pushing for responsible gun laws that banned assault weapons and expanded background checks. After funding for anti-Asian hate programming was cut in half, Morales stepped up and restored all $333,000, demonstrating her commitment to fighting discrimination. Morales secured funding for restorative justice programming in our public schools, promoting a more inclusive and accountable education system.

Recognizing the need for safer streets, she secured funds for dozens of new sidewalks and pedestrian improvements, including traffic calming measures in District 2. Morales is working tirelessly to create a Regional Office of Violence Prevention, aiming to reduce gun injuries by 50% and the number of shooting victims by 63%. Precincts without similar programs saw only 5% and 17% reductions.

She advocates for safer streets, protected bike routes, and traffic calming designs to reduce fatalities, addressing District 2's alarming rate of traffic-related deaths. Morales insists on language justice across the board, ensuring consistent and timely communication in investigations, irrespective of language or address.

Beyond these impressive achievements, Morales envisions a Seattle that actively promotes healthy neighborhoods, eliminates the racial wealth gap, and safeguards the environment for future generations. She is committed to renters' rights, workers' rights, small businesses, and climate resilience.

Tammy Morales doesn't just talk about change; she delivers it with results that are measurable and impactful. As Seattle stands at a crossroads, Morales is the leader guiding us toward a brighter, more equitable future for District 2 and the entire city. Vote for Tammy Morales, the candidate with the numbers to prove her dedication to our community's well-being.
