Georgia State Issue

Who would make a better #Governor for Georgia, incumbent Republican Brian Kemp or Democrat Stacey Abrams?

Preparations for Gubernatorial elections in 36 states have commenced. Currently, Republicans hold the majority of governors, 28 out of 50. Like many other states, Georgia is set to decide its governor for the upcoming term. Previously, Brian Kemp held office after defeating Stacey Abrams with a small margin in 2018. Now both of them are once again face to face in 2022.

Georgia has been a republican trifecta state since 2005. Whether this state will remain as such or not is to be determined in the upcoming elections. Republican Brian Kemp has been Georgia Secretary of State from 2010 to 2018. Being a businessman, it is no surprise that his policies were directed towards improving the economy of the state. During the financial crisis during the COVID pandemic, the policies set up by Kemp kept the economy of Georgia afloat. Kemp also worked to exempt military retirees from taxes. He is looking forward to empowering law enforcement agencies in his next term.

Democrat Stacey Adams was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives from 2007 to 2017. She is a graduate of Yale University Law School and has served as deputy city attorney for the City of Atlanta. Also, she has worked as special counsel to Sutherland, Asbill, and Brennan. She has expressed concerns over economic injustice in the state of Georgia. She wants to set the Georgia Economic Mobility Plan in motion that will provide equal opportunities to all, irrespective of their background. Education and childcare for everyone is her primary goal. She has criticized Kemp for his “poor oversight” in Georgia. She is a strong proponent of abortion rights and is aiming to abrogate a 6-week abortion ban.

So the question for debate is, who would make a better Governor for Georgia, incumbent Republican Brian Kemp or Democrat Stacey Abrams?
