Gubernatorial #election for the state of Nevada will be held in November 2022. Political environment is heating up, and all the candidates are running a charged campaign. Current office holder and Democrat Steve Sisolak and Republican Joe Lombardo are the main candidates for this election.
Sisolak, chairman of the Clark County Commission and a member of the Nevada Board of Regents, is a stark supporter of abortion access and reproductive rights. Upon his appointment as the Governor in 2018, Nevada became a Democratic trifecta for the first time since 1992. While discussing his performance and sharing the future vision for the state of Nevada, the incumbent governor highlighted his performance in the previous term. During his recent term, the state of Nevada had placed strong emphasis on raising minimum wages and keeping taxes as low as possible. Also, accessible healthcare and childcare were up in the government policies. Sisolak aims to raise the funding for education and extend his support for abortion rights.
Joe Lombardo, an army veteran and Clark County sheriff, is the other strong contender for the position of the future governor of the state of Nevada. He has served on the board of Nevada Child Seekers and as the chairman of the MCCA Intelligence Committee. Laxalt has been very critical of the policies of the previous Democratic regime. He has voiced his concerns over the rise in criminal offenses. He has attributed this to the failure of Governor Sisolak. Lombardo aims to stop reckless spending and make the state safer for the citizens.
The question remains, who would make a better Governor for Nevada, incumbent Democrat Steve Sisolak or Republican Joe Lobardo?
