Texas is facing a choice to either continue its old ways of divisive politics or to move forward and embrace a whole new bold vision of inclusion, unity, peace, and equal fundamental rights for all. November 8th, 2022 marks the date for the election of the next governor of the state for the state of Texas. Incumbent Republican Greg Abbott and Democrat Beto O’Rourke are competing for the post. It is high time for the citizens to decide their vision for the future of the state.
The only candidate that lights up the hopes for a strong and united Texas in the present scenario is O’Rourke. He has seen the detrimental effects of a dissected society, and he is willing to go to any lengths to ensure that the united Texas stands and all its citizens are provided with maximum relief.
Education of the future generation determines the entire future of a state. From economic strength to ideological strength, all great minds are a product of great educational systems. O’Rourke has pointed out the grossly underfunded state of educational institutes in Texas. The educational system focuses more on standardized testing than on providing quality education and nurturing young minds to turn them into leaders and responsible citizens of the state. He will bridge this gap between the needs and supplies of the educational institutes as a top priority.
Like education, access to affordable healthcare is something the state should ensure for the citizens. 1 in every 5 Texans can not afford insurance and stays uninsured. O’Rourke promises to make affordable healthcare for all a reality. Greg Abbott’s anti-healthcare policies and resistance against funding have resulted in a massive shortage of healthcare staff statewide. It is no less than criminal negligence by the state to deprive the citizens of affordable healthcare. O’Rourke is determined to take care of this issue.
The people of Texas have been suffering in many other ways as well. The small business fraction has dropped over the years. 1 in every 5 children in Texas is living a life of poverty. The process to register for a basic right as casting a vote is so daunting and arduous. 600,000 jobs have been lost in the previous ten years. All of this is just the tip of the iceberg. It is very clear that the policies of Abbott have failed in every aspect. It is time for a change.
O’Rourke is a strong proponent of reproductive rights. He firmly believes in protecting the citizens of the states in every possible way. He has mentioned that all crimes should be nipped in the bud and torn from the roots so that the citizens are protected. There is no doubt that, indeed, he has the right plan of action to revive the state of Texas and bring back its glory that was lost by mismanagements in previous Republican terms.
