Like a few other states, Arkansas will be playing a critical role this midterm election year. Come November 8, 2022, the members of the constituency will be asked to fulfill their civic duties and vote who’ll be representing the state in the U.S. Senate for the next term. The fact that there are so many noteworthy and worthwhile candidates vying for the office this time around gives me a personal sense of joy. It makes me happy that the state has so many hands willing to push it forward. Having said that, only one candidate is legally allowed to fill the soon-to-be-vacant Class III Senate seat. And, in my opinion, the best possible candidate for the job is already in office; we just need to vote him in for another term.
You don’t even have to be particularly observant to notice that there’s been a significant change in the representation that the jurisdiction gets since Incumbent Senator John Boozman took office in 2001. The key difference is that a good portion of what comes out of Washington D.C. now carries at least a semblance of the values of our state. While the good senator certainly still has much to do, the fact that things like the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade were allowed to stand is thanks to the valiant efforts of individuals who refused to compromise our values like Boozman.
We’re also still “allowed” to own and use guns because he doesn’t sit idle when the government introduces policies that seek to deny us this basic liberty.
As he eloquently put it, “I consistently champion and defend Arkansas values in the U.S. Senate, including proudly supporting pro-life policies, working to protect our Second Amendment rights, pushing for adherence to the Constitution and insisting on always upholding the rule of law. I also understand Arkansans’ prioritization of our national sovereignty, concerns regarding our nation’s broken immigration system, and desire to secure our borders and enforce existing laws. Finally, I’m proud to stand behind our military and law enforcement members as they serve and sacrifice so much in service to our nation, state and communities because Arkansans appreciate and hold them in high esteem.”
With the country having to handle so many things over the past few years, it can be easy to forget that basic things like fighting to uphold the constitution in all parastatals of government are of the utmost importance. But this senator makes sure to keep his bearings at all times, which is why he consistently does his due diligence and ensures that all nominees brought before the chamber are not only accountable to the people but also have the capacity to accomplish the task at hand.
Many people see the good work he’s doing and it’s clear that he’s a great fit for this position. When he received an award from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons in honor of his continued commitment to improving health care, he promised to devote himself to doing even more, saying, “We need an environment that encourages physicians to continue practicing, so we must avoid these (health care) cuts, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Health care providers shouldn’t have to worry about their bottom line when they are on the front lines treating patients with COVID-19 and administering life-saving vaccines.”
This kind of individual gives me confidence that the best is yet to come. His actions show that there’s hope that democracy and the true will of the Founding Fathers will win the day in the end.
However, for him to continue defending us from the forces of tyranny and improving life as we know it, he has to remain in that position of influence.
The man has stood up for regular Americans time and again. Now’s the time to return the favor. Let’s give democracy leeway to continue in the state and elect John Boozman to the Senate one more time!
