Bennet Remains the Best Choice for Colorado
November 8, 2022, will be decision-making time for voters in the Centennial State. Coloradans will once again be choosing who they want to be their voice on the floor of the U.S. Senate. And, just as it has been since 2009, the best person for this role is none other than Incumbent Senator Michael Bennet of the Democratic Party.
Winning his re-election bid will make him the state’s longest-serving senator in recent history. However, for Senator Michael Bennet, it’s less about making history and more about furthering the agenda of the people.
Many have come to expect that, the longer a senator serves in Washington D.C., the more he forgets about the interests of his constituency and starts to focus on making a killing for himself. Bennet has conclusively proven that he’s not that sort of individual. What makes this senator even more different when compared to his colleagues is that he works silently yet highly efficiently. One of his most visible and commendable handiworks yet is the expansion of the child tax credit.
Daniel Baer of Colorado Politics describes the bill as a, “…legislation (that) transforms the existing child tax credit, both by making it larger and, more consequentially, by making it “fully refundable,” which, in effect, means that American families will get a direct payment of $300 per month for each child age five and under, and $250 per month for older children. The benefit will almost immediately halve child poverty in the United States, (and will cut child poverty among Black, Latinx, and Native American children by more than half). It will provide more support to tens of millions of middle-class families too. Though it phases out for higher income families, it is nearly universal; about 93% of American families with children will benefit.”
While this bill is in every way truly outstanding, on several levels, it actually typifies what Bennet has spent more than the last 13 years doing for the people of Colorado in the U.S. Senate; making their lives better. Where some senators have made their legacies supporting the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade and actively pushing more guns into American neighborhoods, Bennet has been more concerned with ensuring that a bill that would save the Colorado River Basin was passed. He was more interested in improving broadband access across the state and country and enhancing health care for hardworking families. In his words and actions, he was serving as any true son of Colorado would.
Given the opportunity to once again stand as the representative of Coloradans in the U.S. Senate, Bennet wants to continue doing the good work that the people have come to know him for. He wants to initiate and fight for more helpful bills like the Colorado Outdoor Recreation and the Economy (CORE Act) bill that would protect the environment of the state and improve the quality of life in the constituency.
Bennet still considers the lack of stricter gun control laws in the nation a major cause for concern. He believes that this a problem that needs to be critically addressed and plans to continue fighting for a favorable change in policy if allowed to return to the Senate. He’s already making headway in this regard but needs the platform to give matters a final push in the right direction.
The incumbent senator also wants to do even more for Colorado’s Public Lands Counties and Tribes. Along these lines, he has already helped counties in the state secure more than $71 million. Going back into the U.S. Senate, he’s vowing to do even more for rural communities in the state.
Bennet is clearly who we need serving as senator. He talks and backs it up with action. He keeps working for all Coloradans, even in the face of consistent adversity.
Let’s vote this outstanding individual in for another term and watch his sterling work continue!
