He has served the state as a treasurer and is a law professor by profession. He has been involved with the educational development of our future lawyers as well as has served in the government. During his time as treasurer, he took care of the state’s $10.6 billion investment. He worked on local and state bond issues and returned millions of dollars in unclaimed property. Before that, he served as Secretary of the Department of Revenue, Special Counsel to Governor Roemer, and Secretary of Governor Roemer’s Cabinet. He is an experienced person with an excellent track record. The people of Louisiana can definitely rely on him.
After being selected as a senator, Kennedy served on Appropriations, Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, Budget, Judiciary, and Small Business and Entrepreneurship committees in the U.S. Senate. He also worked as the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development for the Appropriations Committee, the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee of Federal Courts for the Judiciary Committee, and the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee of Economic Policy for the Banking Committee. Apart from his professional successes, he is a founding member of his church and a devout Christian.
