While I understand the importance of considering merit in college admissions, we must also acknowledge the systemic barriers that marginalized communities face. Merit alone fails to account for the unequal access to quality education and resources. It is crucial to implement a holistic approach that takes into account the unique challenges that these communities experience. By promoting diversity and inclusivity in college admissions, we foster a more equitable society where everyone has a fair chance to succeed.
