"#Electoral gives too much power to swing states" Aug 21, 2024

In America, there are two types of states in presidential elections, safe states and #swingstates. These elections give too much power to the swing states as safe states have proven historically that they always vote in favor of the candidate of a particular party.

Safe states for Republicans include Alabama, Tennessee, and Indiana, amongst others. And for Democrats, safe states include New York, California, Maryland, Illinois, and Washington, amongst others. Swing states show near equal support for both parties' candidates and are typically the deciding factor of recent elections. Examples of America's swing states include Florida, Ohio, Nevada, Virginia, and more recently Arizona and Georgia. With the Electoral College, the Democrat vote in Alabama and the Republican vote in California are ineffective and worthless. But the vote of residents in a swing state is significantly more meaningful.

In the voting process under the Electoral College, residents don't cast a vote directly for the president, but the electors cast them. And the individual vote is valued according to its ability to impact the majority vote of the state. As the electoral college rules disproportionately favor the white and rural states, and give more power to the swing states, it should be abolished to keep the rights of minorities. Abolishing the electoral colleges and using the popular vote in America will give equal rights to all!
